Roz Avent Dance, Company

The classes at Roz Avent Dance focus on the student exploring movement and dance forms in a nurturing non-competitive environment. Music from all ages and cultures, props, stories and ideas are used to inspire the student to find a personal way of moving that combines strength, beauty and authenticity. Structured dance improvisation with simple directions develops confidence in solving creative problems, and with the music integrates mind, body and spirit. Dance tasks encourage the students to stretch their imaginations as they stretch their bodies. Yoga is the exercise discipline in all junior classes and is also part of the senior classes. Technique and sequences are also a major part of the lesson plan. The music used is an education in itself, as students explore dance as solos, duets and groups and begin to choreograph their own works. Creative Dance promotes focus, flexibility, strength, co-ordination, co-operation, fitness, spatial awareness, rhythm, freedom of expression, imagination, confidence, performance skills, understanding of design principles. What kind of dancing does Roz Avent Dance offer? Roz Avent Dance is a unique style of dance education. It draws inspiration from elements as diverse as yoga, tai chi, creative and contemporary dance as well as current dance practices. Roz Avent Dance explores dance as a fine art. In Bendigo, it is hard to get anything quite like what Roz Avent Dance offers. What is Creative Dance? Here's a PDF about what Creative Dance is... Creative Dance can be described as structured improvisation. It encourages exploration and freedom to go on a journey with the music. A theme is used as a structure is used to focus the dancers' minds. For younger classes, the themes are usually physical things, such as butterflies, water, animals. For the older classes, more abstract ideas can start the dance - breathing, touch, loss, chaos.
